Sounds like one-time Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward is already hard at work for his upcoming shot at “Dancing with the Stars” in which he will be a part of in the next couple of weeks.
Since returning from Los Angeles after the official announcement Monday, Ward has devoted himself to preparing for a stage unlike any on which he has performed.
Ward and dance partner Kym Johnson already have logged two rehearsal sessions. Earlier this week, Johnson flew to Atlanta to begin training that will last five hours a day, six days a week for the popular ballroom dancing show that premieres March 21.
“It’s definitely strenuous,” Ward said Thursday before his second rehearsal. “If you never rode a bike before and you get on it, you’re going to be a little shaky. But the more and more you do it, you start riding smoothly.”
Teammates kidded Ward about his decision to join the show, but early reviews from his partner have been glowing.
“He’s got great footwork, and he’s got natural ability,” said Johnson, who helped Donny Osmond win the title in fall 2009. “I’ve never met someone so focused and determined. If he doesn’t get it right, he’s like, ‘I’m not leaving until I get it perfect,’ so it’s great. I understand now why he’s such a great football player and has won the Super Bowl twice.”
