The Steelers are talking today to former Colts and Bucs defensive tackle Anthony McFarland about joining their team. McFarland was on injured reserve last season and was let go by the Colts last month when he failed a physical. McFarland is well aware of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, as he played under him when Tomlin was with the Buccaneers. The 30-year-old is trying to make it back off a knee injury.
He was traded from Tampa Bay to Indy in October of 2006 for a second-round draft choice. He was Tampa Bay’s first round draft pick back in 1999 out of LSU. Joining the Steelers he would be nothing more than insurance for a D-line that plays the 3-4 with big men up front that do their best to free up a solid Steelers linebacking core.
