ESPN AFC North blogger James Walker answers a question about the Steelers possibly making a move to try and get Florida CB Joe Haden:
Brian from Holly Springs, NC, writes: Interesting comment about the Pittsburgh Steelers wheeling and dealing. Do you see a possibility of them moving up to try and grab Florida cornerback Joe Haden?
Walker: Pittsburgh has proven that all things are possible on draft day. The Steelers have recently moved up and down the draft board on a given year. So I wouldn’t rule out Pittsburgh moving up a few spots from No. 18 to get someone it really likes. Haden likely remains a top 10 pick even with an average workout Tuesday. He probably will have a better Pro Day on his turf and his terms. So Haden could be too costly to move up. But if a player drops somewhere in that 12-15 range that the Steelers feel is a top 10 talent, that’s more likely.
Haden didn’t have a good 40-time at the combine, which has led some to think that his stock is going to drop. With the Steelers looking at corners, Hayden should be a guy they take a flier on to see if he would make an impact right away in the defensive backfield.

there is no way that the steelers will try to move up because there is no way they can afford to give up more than 1 pick in this draft and that would mean giving up players, which the steelers don’t have anyone that they don’t need that is worth a top 10 pick.

I would trade our 4 rd pick and swap 1 rd picks. Although I wouldnt let his 40 time fool you… theres a reason why he is conisdered a top ten pick

For draft trades, most teams use a trade value chart as a basis, and then modify from there (some teams are more flexible than others).
A trade up to the top 10 would be too expensive. It would take 400 points to go from 18 to 10, which would mean giving up our 2nd round pick.
Going from 18 to 14 would likely cost a 3rd round pick.
Giving up our 4th round pick may move the Steelers up 2 spots to 16.

hey its worth a gamble but i would go after taylor mayes because of his position flexibility he’s a intimidating player talent wise and still go after a corner as well
