Still no word on what landed WR Sweed on IR

The USA Today has a tidbit about Limas Sweed, as it’s still anyone’s guess why Mr.Drops ended up on IR last year:

The Steelers remain reluctant to talk about what happened to WR Limas Sweed, placed on injured reserve for an unknown “illness” late last season that was not physical. “That’s something that will be addressed at the proper time and now’s not the proper time,” Kevin Colbert said. Sweed’s role with the team going forward is uncertain given the emergence of Mike Wallace.

I would be surprised if Sweed has any type of impact with this team. He was given every chance to be the #3 last year, and blew it with a huge drop that basically cost the team the Bengals game in week 3. Mike Wallace took the opportunity to be the #3 and ran with it, and Sweed rode the bench the rest of the year.

The problems that plagued #14 are in his head. He may get a chance to stay with the team next season, but he will have to be AWESOME! Even if he ends up on another roster, his impact will be marginal. Because his problems are from within, a change of scenery may help, but it is doubtful.

I agree with Mark. I work in mental health and can’t for the life of me understand how a pro athlete, with the world potentially at his fingertips, would let ego and laziness and immaturity surface in lieu of character and perseverance and fortitude and NOT LET mind issues get in the way of becoming a starter or whatever especially when all the physical tools are there?! Sweed is obviously immature and entitled; a pampered athlete that felt slighted by the Steelers organization—for what? Them not sticking with him? You grow up, take the Goddamn bull by the horns and assert yourself with humility, not pride and display effort, no excuses and the organization will see those intangibles. No, he let his his mistakes get the best of him and then he pouted when they shied away from his “athletic prowess” and din’t play him anymore. I wish God gave me the athletic ability that these kids have with what I know now about life…But that’s just it, the challenge for Sweed isn’t his athletic ability, as it would be for me, the challenge is, like for so many athletes, mental.

This might be a long shot but the Steelers could possible have the most dynamic recieving core in a long time. Its all falling into place. I do not know whats up with Limas personel life but i think this guy has what it takes. He looks like the missing peice. Santonio Holmes still as a Steeler then ok no need for sweed but I think this guy is going to blow up.
