The Steelers practice today on the South Side as they finalize their preparations for Sunday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field. One player who will not be in the lineup is fullback Dan Kreider. The Steelers placed Kreider on the injured reserve list on Thursday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. Kreider injured his knee in the Steelers 3-Nothing win over the Miami Dolphins this past Monday night.
Strong safety Troy Polamalu did not practice yesterday and says he will wait until game time before a decision is made on whether he will play. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes did not practice yesterday and is not expected to play on Sunday. Holmes said he does not want to risk further injury by returning too soon. Holmes has a high ankle sprain. Left tackle Marvell Smith did not practice because of his bad back and probably won’t play on Sunday.
The Steelers filled Kreider’s roster spot by signing tight end Jon Dekker to the active roster. Dekker, an undrafted free agent out of Princeton, spent the past two season’s on the Steelers practice squad. Kickoff Sunday 8:15 p.m.
