A First Half to Forget in Cleveland; Steelers Down 13-3

Steelers Browns Football
I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t look like a very focused football team. They played like a team ready to board the bus in the first half, and because of it they head to the locker room down 13-3. On a positive note, they scored the last points of the half, getting a Jeff Reed field goal that closed score down to 10.

Ben Roethlisberger was sacked five times, and he went 7-for-12 for 70 yards, and started to finally hit some throws at the end of the half. It will be interesting to see how they open up on the first drive of the third quarter. They need to score a touchdown to get back in this game, and unless they do, it’s going to be an uphill battle the rest of the way.

All they need to do vs Cleveland is stop Josh Cribbs, and they have yet to do that. They are missing tackles, making dumb mistakes, and of course allowed a dumb punt return that led to three points. NFL Network seems to already be burying the champs, and unless they turn this around, it could be the end of the year for sure.

I for one would be happy to see us lose. Let’s tank the rest of the way, get the season over with so we can get a decent 1st rd pick and begin the re-evaluations. Things are gonna have to change. Drastically.

The Steelers need to lose the gloves and catch some passes and make some tackles. It is not that damn cold. They need to cowboy up and play some football.

No, Bruce Arians needs to call some damn run plays with consistency. The Steelers have 17 rush attempts, the Browns have 35. The Browns are playing Steelers football, and they’re playing smart football. When it’s 10 degrees with 25 mph winds, YOU RUN THE BALL. I’m developing a serious hatred for Bruce Arians.

Well Steeler fans, this is what our team delivers in a do-or-die situation. No Balls, no heart and no playoffs. No one can tell me that Troy makes a difference tonight. Pushed around by the Raiders,Chiefs and now the Browns. Embarrassing is too kind of a word. Mike Tomlin, you have a HUGE problem in Pittsburgh. You dont go from 1st to worst this quickly and this horribly. In my opinion, in your first “crisis” your team collapsed and threw in the towel. That is not a good sign for future bumps in the road. You get a pass this season after what happened last year but patience is not on tap. You promised to “unleash Hell” and this is what you deliver? Farrior, is a goner. Tonight proved that. The coaching staff needs an overhaul and it starts with Zerlein (sp?) and Ligachevwhatever(sp?) The line was atrocious tonight. Arians will keep his job, but he had worn out his welcome a long time ago with fans. O.K Coach Tomlin, lets see what you can do in the off season because in my opinion you lost this team and the holes you have will take a while to fill

Dump Tomlin. In all areas of coaching the staff stinks. Special teams is absolutely horrible.

Bruce Arians is and has taken our beloved team hostage with his incessant need for passing and I will not be happy until he is either fired or not working with the Steelers anymore. I have so much hatred for that man that I cannot hardly stand it. To watch a team like us with decent talent (at least decent enough to beat K.C., Oakland and Cleveland) and lose mostly because we cannot properly manage a professional game of football. He is a garbage coordinator and, quite frankly, to all of you who want the higher draft pick, you’re missing the point, it doesn’t matter how much talent we have, with garbage offensive linemen and a garbage offensive coordinator, we could have Adrian peterson and Arians wouldn’t use him so talent won’t win us games until Arians is gone. Even if Ben had time to throw tonight, which, in some cases, he did, there was a blanket coverage all over the field as if the entire league has caught up to this very easy to figure out excuse for an offense. When teams like K.C., Oakland and Cleveland have figured you out, you’ve been had! There are no screens, no draw plays, no underneath routes to take the pressure off of Ben. We get into third and short all night and then drop back on third and one?!? I just can’t believe what I’ve seen out on the field so far this year. And Tomlin lets Arians get away with it so who’s really running the show? It doesn’t matter where we draft, until Arians is gone, we will suck!

I agree, Mark, I don’t know why Arians will be back…I mean I KNOW why, but I don’t know why, if ya know what I mean…They have like four running plays, left, right and up the middle…Oh, when they did run that one play that was so successful against Denver, ya know where they pull Heath Miller and it actually looks like an interesting running play, they gained like six yards….Yeah but we only saw it once as if Arians started to get DT’s from passing withdrawal! He sucks! I can’t say it enough! I know I’m ranting and it is kinda unpopular with some of the more articulate bloggers on this site but I need to vent! I agree about the first to worst thing and Tomlin just stands on the sidelines as if to say, “It happens.” It doesn’t happen, though, not to us, not to a team with the type of talent we have. But, whatever I guess. Oh, Mark, Ed Bouchette, believes Farrior is okay, I agree with you though, that he, even at his fastest, was never a terribly fast linebacker; adequately, yes. Now, he runs like he’s carrying a piano. I would feel really good if we didn’t franchise anybody this offseason and signed one or two big name free agents from somewhere else. But my grandfather, God rest his soul, always used to tell me, you can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up faster!

Hi Jay. I remember that line your Grandfather used too! Its very accurate when you consider the Steelers in the off season. As far as Farrior is concerned, He may still be a quality LB but now he is slow and that is disaster on a team that needs its LB’s to be active ALL the time. Bro, you have every right to rant and spew some venom this morning. Passionate Steeler fans need to be heard. I have been a fan since the early 1970’s I mean FANatic, and other than the lost years from 1985-1989, this is a scary situation the team is in.How a team can go from Champ to chump THIS fast is unheard of. It tells me that the problems in Pittsburgh run a lot deeper than a few injuries. Lets see what Tomlin does about it. Like I said before, first sign of trouble, and he lost the team and they collapsed. YES, they did.Where do they go from here but I will tell you that I want carnage! Firings and releasing of coaches and players who dont have what it takes to execute with the heart of a champion!
