They’re the teams that Steelers fans have grown to hate over the years. When you see these teams on the schedule, your blood starts to boil just a little bit more, and you start counting the days till those games. Why of course it’s the rivals of the Steelers that we’re talking about, and here we go with the teams top 10 all-time rivals. Today we continue with number 5:
5. New England Patriots – It’s a rivalry that really didn’t take shape until Bill Belichick showed up in New England to guide the Pats, and Bill Cowher and the Steelers started having issues with the boys dressed like soldiers. The rivalry had seen the Steelers dominate from 1972 to 1995, winning 10 of 13 regular season games. Then in 1996 a Bill Parcells led Pats team pounded the Steelers, who were led by a hobbled Jerome Bettis and Mike Tomczak at QB 28-3 in a playoff game on the road. From there, the Steelers got some revenge the following year in a lackluster 7-6 home playoff win.
Four years later things between the two clubs started taking shape, as New England strolled into Pittsburgh and upset the heavy favored Steelers 24-17 in the AFC Title game at then new Heinz Field in the 2001 season. Pittsburgh got a little revenge back, stopping the Pats 18-game winning streak in 2004 with a 34-20 Halloween thrashing. The Pats though again got the last laugh, as they beat Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers 41-27 in that years AFC Title game – again in Pittsburgh. Since then the two teams have met twice, both times in New England, with each team winning once. The series currently stands at 13-12 in the Pats favor.

I think there is a mistake in the article. Since the 41-27 loss in the AFC title game, the Steelers and Pats have played 3 times not twice. In 2005, Pats beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh in week 3 I think 23-20. Then 2 seasons ago the “gaurantee” game 31-14 in New England, then last season again in NE, the Steelers stomped the Patsies.

Steelers have played 3 times against the Pats since the 41-27 game. In 2005, 23-20 Pats I believe in week 3 in Pittsburgh. Then the “Gaurantee” game in 2007 and then the Steelers crushing the Pats last season.
