The Pittsburgh Steelers will enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday by allowing several veterans to rest, giving young players an opportunity to showcase their skills instead. Choosing caution, head coach Mike Tomlin will field a team of players battling for a final roster spot.
Aside from a desire to win, the Steelers will not only use the game as an evaluation, but attempt to avoid injuries. With the addition of Sunday’s game, Pittsburgh will play five preseason games in 2015. On Friday, Tomlin confirmed that Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller, James Harrison and Maurkice Pouncey will not take the field. Other first-team players are likely to see a limited number of snaps save for those who need in-game experience.
