Steelers Back to the Basics, Run Past Atlanta 41-17 to Improve to 2-2-1; Three Takeaways

2. The D Makes Em Pay

After a week when they couldn’t get off the field on third downs against the Ravens, the Steelers D stepped up and put a classic Steel Curtain beat down of Matt Ryan and the Falcons.

Ryan was 26-of-38 for 285 yards with a pick, and the bigger thing was the defense got to him six times, taking him down.

Julio Jones didn’t have a catch till the game was basically over, and other than one broken play which resulted in a Mohamed Sanu 43-yard score, the Steelers secondary came with a chip on their shoulders in this game.

They will need another effort like that of Sunday against the Bengals and Andy Dalton next week.
