Steelers Embarrassed in Prime Time by the Rival Ravens, Fall to 1-2-1 Following 26-14 Loss

2. Now for the Offense

I will give this unit a little more leeway than that of the defense, but then again they too were terrible on Sunday night against the Ravens.

Something within this offense simply isn’t right – they don’t get off to fast starts, can’t run the ball now it appears (19 yards total on the night) and the usual combo of Ben to Brown looks broken from all sides.

Ben Roethlisberger looked terrible after a so-so first half, he was almost like a ghost, along with the rest of the offense, in the second half.

People are going to question that he’s lost a step, or isn’t the same, and that very well could be true, but he also was the QB who last week looked like his old self in saving the game late for the Steelers in their only win in Tampa.

He also was the QB that led the team to 14 points in the first half after the defense (again) put them in a hole, but after those 14 points were scored they might as well have went to sleep.

The offense in the second half – four punts, an interception, and a turnover on downs.

I don’t know what the formula is for this team on offense, maybe running the ball more, or not getting off to such awful starts, but right now they look broken.

There comes a time when the old school way of conducting your buisness has to change . Long time buisnes do it all the time in this country . The Pittsburgh Steelers are going too have to do it to if they want to contend for a title . The entire organization knew at the end of last season that the defense had to be fixed . They had an entire offseason to make that happen . Theyre answer ? They bring in an avarage safety and a journeyman linebacker who has bounced from team to team during his NFL career . They call that fixing the defense .Bottom line , very little was spent and now it shows , bigtime . You get what you pay for and the Steelers are finding that out . Better free agents could have been had but they chose the easy less expensive route .Its not 1975 anymore and what worked back then wont work today . Its time to open the checkbook and go get some players . Otherwise look forward to alot of losing seasons going forward .
