1. The Defense in One Word – Awful
There’s no denying that the 2018 Steelers defense is probably one of the five worst in the NFL right now, and there’s no end in sight as to just how bad this unit overall can be.
While their body of work dating back to the end of the last season, specifically after the injury to Ryan Shazier, has been downright painful to watch, let’s stick with the numbers against a Ravens team they normally beat up and bloody at home.
First there was the opening drive, which saw the Ravens quickly and without much effort march right down the field in eight plays, covering 75 yards and going up 7-0.
They made it 14-0 before some fans even got into their seats, and once again it was up to the offense to have to fight and claw their way back into the game.
The defense allowed a total of 451 yards, 24 first downs, 35:03 in time of possession, and oh yeah, the Ravens were 8-for-17 on third down, a staggering number.
Missed tackles, and players running behind coverage seemed to be the formula for this night, and they made Joe Flacco look like an elite QB, and every time rookie QB Lamar Jackson entered the game – the defense looked like a deer in headlights.
It’s seriously time for some heads – that of the likes of Keith Butler and Joey Porter – to roll on the Southside of Pittsburgh.

There comes a time when the old school way of conducting your buisness has to change . Long time buisnes do it all the time in this country . The Pittsburgh Steelers are going too have to do it to if they want to contend for a title . The entire organization knew at the end of last season that the defense had to be fixed . They had an entire offseason to make that happen . Theyre answer ? They bring in an avarage safety and a journeyman linebacker who has bounced from team to team during his NFL career . They call that fixing the defense .Bottom line , very little was spent and now it shows , bigtime . You get what you pay for and the Steelers are finding that out . Better free agents could have been had but they chose the easy less expensive route .Its not 1975 anymore and what worked back then wont work today . Its time to open the checkbook and go get some players . Otherwise look forward to alot of losing seasons going forward .
