1. Pressure Bortles
Blake Bortles had a stretch of three straight Jags wins where he threw seven TD’s, no picks and was sacked just twice, but since then he’s thrown three TD’s, five picks, and has been sacked five times in those three games.
The Steelers best bet to beat the Jags is to put massive amounts of pressure on Bortles, forcing him into a couple turnovers. Figure that 10 of Bortles’ 13 picks this season came in the Jaguars’ six losses.
Pick him off early and build some momentum, and by the third quarter he’ll be so rattled he’ll be looking for cover anywhere he can find it. Allow him to get comfortable, and he could burn the Steelers for big plays, something they have allowed the last few weeks.
Bortles only threw the ball 14 times in the first game the two teams plays, hitting for just 95 yards and he was picked off once in that game, but the defense with a huge day bailed him out.
If the Steelers don’t allow five giveaways, they should be able to get to Bortles enough for a turnover or two.
