The Steelers may be getting another one of their former players back, as reports say the team is going to be chatting with former Saints CB Keenan Lewis tonight about a return to the Steel City.

Lewis was released by the Saints after an injury filled season in 2015. In an interesting interview, Lewis said this week he saw the move coming, and also that he didn’t see eye to eye with DC Dennis Allen.
The 30-year-old Lewis enters his 8th season, he was drafted by the Steelers out of Oregon State back in 2009 – he was the teams’ 3rd round pick that season.
Last season Lewis started training camp on the PUP list, and although the team activated him , he practiced just one day and had been sidelined ever since
Lewis was placed on IR last season and in January underwent hip surgery. He started the season on the PUP list, and despite being activated from the list on August 3rd, he has only practiced once this summer.
He has interest from a reported six teams, but would be a nice fit to the Steelers backfield if healthy. Let’s see if the Steelers can convince Lewis a return to the Steelers, and who is the odd man out if he does come back.

If K. Lewis wasn’t good enough for the Steelers to retain him when they had him, why is he now — at age 30, injury prone, slower, and coming off the Saints’ PUP list — now worth bringing back? Are things that desperate?
Perhaps the better question is: Is this source credible? This sounds like disinformation fed to the press by Lewis’s agent in the hope of marketing a retread. When Keith Butler actually confirms that the Steelers have an interest, that will be a story. Until then, this is just a rumor masquerading as news.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that Lewis is coming to town tonight for a physical . Dulac stated he was told that by a source in the Steelers organization . Unless he passes that physical with flying colors its buyer beware . Lewis is older now and coming off several injuries . We’ll see .
