The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected cornerback Artie Burns with the 25th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Burns played at the University of Miami and had a stellar 2015 campaign.
Burns recorded six interceptions in 2015 and is a true physical cornerback. The last time the Steelers addressed the cornerback position was in 1997.
He has an incredible length for his size, and will fit the Steelers’ defensive scheme quite well. He will be competing with last years second-round pick Senquez Golson and Ross Cockrell for the starting role.
Stats:
Even though he was projected as a second-round pick, Burns has a lot of promise and could be a talented corner in the NFL. He is very raw but the Steelers will definitely fix any tangibles that need to be addressed.

Nearly five months after the season ended the Bengals stuck it to the Steelers again . The Steelers were ready to grab William Jackson and the Bengals nailed them with a cheap shot once again . Artie Burns may turn out to be a good pick , but at the end of the day he wasnt the corner the Steelers wanted . Time will tell .

Strange decision. The Steelers needed a CB, but the best ones were taken, so they reached and took Burns, who was projected as a third round value and is not NFL ready. Meanwhile, the team passed on several solid defensive linemen who were more highly regarded. To be blunt, Burns was not the best available defensive player.
One draft pundit gave this pick a D-. I wouldn’t grade Burns that low (although SBNation and Sports Illustrated grade it a C), but this does appear to be an inexplicable waste of a first round pick.

I give it a C-
Burns is a very raw player and needs time to develop. He has some excellent attributes but we will have to wait and see those.
