The Steelers moved quickly to find their new kicker on Tuesday, as the team announced they have inked former Saints kicker Garrett Hartley.
Hartley, who was on the Saints Super Bowl winning team in 2011, will replace the injured Shaun Suisham.
The deal for Hartley is one season. The last stint Hartley had was with the Browns last season, where he played two games going 3-for-3 with Cleveland.
He spent six seasons with the Saints, and in his career he’s a 81.7 percent kicker.
In 59 career regular-season games, Hartley has made 85-of-104 field goal attempts and 178-of-179 point after attempts. He has seen action in four postseason games, making all eight field goal attempts and all 15 point after attempts. Hartley will wear No. 8.
To make room for Hartley on the roster, the Steelers placed quarterback/wide receiver Devin Gardner on the Waived/Injured List.
The Steelers lost Suisham Sunday in the Hall of Fame game after he tore his ACL on a kickoff to start the second half. He will undergo surgery on his left knee this week and is likely to be placed on injured reserve.
