Camp for the black and gold has yet to kickoff, but that’s not stopping the NFL train from already setting dates for key events for the upcoming year.
Today the league announced on that the 2016 draft will be held April 28th through the 30th.
The location of next year’s draft has not yet been determined. This year’s draft was held April 30-May 2 in Chicago. It was the first time Chicago had hosted the draft since 1964, as the event had been held in New York City from 1965-2014.
Some other big dates that were announced today – January 18th is the deadline for college players that are underclassmen to apply for early draft eligibility. A list of players that have been accepted into the draft will be sent to NFL clubs on Jan. 22.
The East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl will be held in late January, with the Shrine Game scheduled for January 23rd and Senior Bowl set for January 30th.
NFL Scouting Combine timing and testing will be held February 23rd through the 29th at its normal location at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Latrobe, Pennsylvania is the home of Saint Vincent College, which is the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp opening on July 5th. Flights to Pittsburgh through Hipmunk.com will get fans about 40 miles from Saint Vincent College to watch the Steelers participate in camp.
