A superb interview by Ben. He has in fact grown as a person over the past few years. Fans should focus on the last two minutes of this clip. First, Ben mentioned the significance of injuries. An injury of any long duration to him, A. Brown, Heyward, or Timmons would considerably alter the outcome of the 2015 season. There is little depth at QB or the D-line in particular. Second, Ben said, “We could be a better football team this year and have a worse record.” That is also true — especially given the tougher schedule in 2015 and the veteran leadership lost on defense. Fans would do well to keep both points in mind and curb their expectations, particularly in the first half of the season. It may be 2016 before the talent we acquired this year develops sufficiently to elevate the Steelers into the first tier of teams again. It isn’t going to happen over-night.

Love him or hate him, Big Ben will have to play at the top of his game for the Steelers to be a viable playoff team.
