1st round options:
Kevin Johnson (CB, Wake Forest) – Kevin Johnson should be available when the Steelers pick at 22 (overall). A lot will depend on what the Philadelphia Eagles will do at 20. I think Kevin Johnson is the safest pick option the Steelers will have at this spot.
Marcus Peters (CB, Washington) -Peters is the most talented cornerback in this year’s draft. He’s the best man-to-man defender prospect and very physical. He has Pro Bowl ability. A wildcard, Peters was kicked off the team for repeatedly getting into it with coaches. A boom or bust candidate. A big gamble that may be worth a shot.
Shane Ray (OLB, Missouri) – Ray will most likely drop because of being caught with marijuana a few days ago. This will definitely scare a few teams off, but what’s more of an issue is a toe injury that hasn’t healed yet. Ray is a Top-10 pick without the concerns. Will drop to the Steelers’ spot in the draft, but will Pittsburgh pull the trigger at a position of need?
