Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft 2015: Rounds 1-7
Bud Dupree – OLB (Kentucky, #2)
A pass rusher is sorely needed by the Steelers. With Dupree, it’s possible to play Jarvis Jones, Arthur Moats, Lawrence Timmons, and Ryan Shazier at the same time. He will need major work in coverage but Dupree has a 10-15 sacks-per-season potential. |
Marcus Peters – CB (Washington, #21) Excellent pure cover and ball skills, but attitude must be kept in check. Has the potential to be a starter week one if he matures and if he improves his tackling ability. |
Jaquiski Tartt – SS (Samford, #6) Has the size and skills to fill a void at safety with Troy Polamalu possibly not returning next season. He will need improvement in coverage before he can become a full time stater. He will bring physicality to the defense. |
Josh Shaw – CB (USC, #6) Great athlete and size. Has very good ball skills and has played against elite competition. Will provide more youth to the secondary and will be a bit of a project early on. Press coverage skills need some work. |
Henry Anderson – DT (Stanford, #91) Anderson needs to add some weight to his frame, but shows great playing strength. Anderson will have time to develop behind Steve McLendon and Daniel McCullers. Strong verses the run. Needs work on consistency in pass rushing skills. |
Jeremiah Poutasi – OT (Utah, #73) Poutasi consistently finishes his blocks with aggression and rarely gets moved off his stance by defenders. Needs more work in dealing with wide speed rushers. A year on the practice squad may be best for him |
Wes Saxton – TE (South Alabama, #13) Saxton has the athleticism to be used instantly on goal line situations Needs major work with his blocking, but has the skill to play out wide. Likely practice squad candidate. |
