Cedric Wilson was a big part of the Steelers Super Bowl win in the 2005 season, as he caught a touchdown in the wild card playoff win over the Bengals, and another in the AFC Championship Game vs the Broncos.
Wilson though couldn’t stay off the police blotter off the field, and was arrested on March 20th, just a month and a half after the Steelers beat the Seahawks 21-10 to win Super Bowl XL.
It was seven year ago today, March 20th 2008 that the Steelers released Wilson for assault against his then girlfriend.
Here’s the original piece from Steelers Gab on the story:
Showing that they mean business about player conduct, the Steelers have released wide out Cedric Wilson, just a few hours after he was arrested after going after an ex-girlfriend and getting arrested for assault against her. The team sent out a simple, two paragraph statement, not putting down the reason for the release, but of course anyone can put two and two together and figure it out.
The 29-year-old Wilson went after ex-girlfriend Lindsey Paulat last night about 8pm at the Patron Mexican Grille in Pine Township. He saw her at the bar, and then according to Paulat pushed her and then punched her in the left side of her face before taking off from the eatery. Police said that Paulat’s face had redness and swelling.
