A couple former Steelers linebackers are going to be back on the teams sideline next season, as today the team announced a shuffle with their inside and outside linebacking core.
First off, Joey Porter, the one-time emotional leader of the Steelers defense of the 90’s, has been promoted to outside linebackers coach.
Porter was a defensive assistant last season with the club.
The team announced also that Jerry Olsavsky has been named the new inside linebackers coach. He also was an assistant coach last season with the black and gold.
Olsavsky was a workhorse player, and he found his way on the field for the Steelers from 1989 to 1997. He’s been with the club since 2010 as a coach.
The reason for the promotion was the fact the team gave former LB coach Keith Butler the job of defensive coordinator, replacing Dick LeBeau who is now with the Titans.
