Steelers coach Mike Tomlin would not commit to cornerback Ike Taylor holding onto his starting job, even if he is healthy enough to play Sunday at Atlanta, Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Speaking at his weekly news conference Tuesday afternoon, Tomlin said Taylor’s ability to practice this week would determine his playing status for Sunday. Taylor did not play during the fourth quarter of this past Sunday’s win at Cincinnati with what the Steelers at the time announced were “right shoulder and left knee” injuries.
In discussing Taylor on Tuesday, Tomlin referenced “shoulder and forearm.”
During his Radio show Tuesday, Taylor said he pulled himself from the game. Taylor said the injuries to his knee and shoulder sustained during the first half of Sunday’s game both affected his ability to run because each altered his form. He quickly returned to the game after leaving the field with each injury. Taylor missed eight games after sustaining a broken arm Sept. 21.
Asked if Taylor would start if he were healthy, Tomlin said: “That’s to be determined. We just need to, first of all, get a handle of where he is from a health standpoint, and then make a decision accordingly.”

The only possible chance that the Steelers have to win this game Sunday against the Falcons is the offense is going to have to put up at the very least 30 points or more . The reason being , our secondary is going to have to play its best of the game of the season when they match up with Roddy White and Hulio Jones . These guys are speed burners and get deep in a hurry . The chances of that happening are not good for the Steelers . That means they have out score them . Either way , it will be a challenge .
