Starting offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert and outside linebacker James Harrison will miss this Sunday’s game vs the Cincinnati Bengals. In their places outside linebacker Arthur Moats, and Michael Adams will look to step up to the plate.
Moats has started several games this and has held his own. Moats has shown the ability to stop the run and rush the passer as well. This Sunday Moats will have to deal with the lighting and thunder combo at running back who are Giovani Bernard, and Jeremy Hill. Moats over the past month and a half has split time with Harrision as the co-starter but now will likely play more snaps with the absence of Harrision. Outside linebacker Jarvis Jones will be expected to return this Sunday but likely play limited snaps returning from a broken wrist.
Offensive tackle Adams has started two games thus far this season. Adamas first start vs the Indianapolis Colts was absolutely spectacular not allowing a sack. His second start this season vs the New Orleans Saints was a struggle in pass protection. Adams will have to block defensive end Robert Geathers who thrives on quickness as well as Carlos Dunlap. If Adams can have a similar performance like he had against the Colts, it will go a long way.
No one else on the injury list will be expected to miss the game. Many players play hurt this time of year and the trend doesn’t stop with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Troy Polamalu, Cortez Allen, Brice McCain, Roethlisberger, Health Miller, Ryan Shazier, Ike Taylor, as well as Steve McClendon all have a more than decent chance of playing.
