This week’s game marks the 15th time the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans will meet in the regular season and the sixth time in Pittsburgh, where the Steelers hold a one game advantage….the two teams will meet for the sixth time in the month of November (3-2) and for the fourth time in Pittsburgh (2-1) in November.

Celebrating Super Bowl IX – 40 Years of History (Alumni Weekend)

Super Bowl IX 40th Anniversary Patch: The team will wear a special patch on their uniform against the New Orleans
Saints (Nov. 30).  During halftime, a ceremony with players from the Super Bowl IX team will be recognized.  All Steelers tickets for the game will be printed with a 40th Anniversary logo.  November 29-30 serves as the team’s annual Alumni Weekend and Heinz Field will host the Alumni Weekend Dinner Gala, with proceeds benefitting the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program and The Cancer Caring Center.  Players from the Super Bowl IX Championship team will be introduced at the event and will share their stories from the 1974 season.  Replay of the 1974 season and Super Bowl IX, featuring Myron Cope and Jack Fleming, will be broadcast on Steelers Nation Radio as well on Alumni Weekend.


Steelers Nation United – the official fan club of the Pittsburgh Steelers – is asking all fans to wear jerseys and gear to the game at Heinz Field on Sunday related to the Super Bowl IX Champions.

• Pittsburgh is now 7-4 on the season (3-3 on the road and 4-0 vs. AFC South opponents).
• The Steelers swept the AFC South for the first time in divisional play
(2002: 2-2, 2005: 2-2, 2008: 2-2, 2011: 3-1 and 2014: 4-0).
• The Steelers improved to 42-31 in the all-time regular-season series against the Titans (18-19 on the road).
• Pittsburgh improved to 4-1 in primetime games on the season, including 2-0 on Monday Night.
• The Steelers are now 5-2 all-time against Tennessee on Monday Night Football and have won each of the previous four.
• The Steelers are now 42-24 (.636) on Monday Night Football – the third-best winning percentage under the lights on Monday.
• Pittsburgh has won 42 Monday Night Football games – the third-most in the NFL.
• The Steelers are 419-270-2 during the regular season since 1970.
• Became the seventh team in NFL history with 100 or more interception-touchdown returns on William Gay’s 28-yard return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

QB BEN ROETHLISBERGER
• Made his 153rd career regular season start and completed 21-of-32 passes for 207 yards with one touchdown for a passer rating of 81.1.
• Is now 102-51 as a starter during the regular season (44-32 on the road).
• Is now to 26-12 in his regular-season career in the month of November (13-7 on the road).
• Is now 4-3 against Tennessee in the regular season as a starter, 1-2 on the road.
• Is now 11-4 all-time on Monday Night Football (5-4 on the road).
• Surpassed Terry Bradshaw (19 games – 242 completions) for the most pass completions by a Steelers quarterback in Monday Night Football games.
WR ANTONIO BROWN
• Has registered at least one reception in 67 consecutive games in which he has played, including the postseason – dating back to October 3, 2010.
• Tallied game-highs of nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.
• With his 12-yard touchdown catch, set a personal single-season high with nine (eight in 2013).
• Became the first Steeler in franchise history to reach 1,100 receiving yards through the first 11 games of a season.
• Joins Hines Ward (3) as the second player in team history to record three 1,100-yard receiving seasons (2011, 2013 and 2014).
• Is the third Steeler to register 1,100 receiving yards in consecutive seasons (Mike Wallace, 2010-11 and Hines Ward, 2002-03).
• Totaled the 80th catch of 2014 with his first grab. Joins Hines Ward (2001-04, 2008-09) as only the second player in team history to have consecutive seasons with at least 80 receptions.
• Is the first Steeler with back-to-back 1,000 yard campaigns since Mike Wallace (2010-2011) and the fifth player in team history to accomplish the feat (Wallace, Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress and Roy Jefferson).
• Has recorded at least five catches and 50 receiving yards in 27 consecutive games, dating back to Week One of the 2013 season. His streak of 27 straight games with at least five receptions for 50 yards is an NFL record
TE HEATH MILLER

 

Extended his consecutive regular-season games started streak to 25 -the third-longest active consecutive games started streak among NFL tight ends.
• Extended his consecutive games played with a catch streak to 99 – dating back to 11/3/2008 vs. Washington (including the postseason).
• Eclipsed 50 receiving yards for the 47th time in his NFL career (regular season), the third most such games by an active NFL tight end (Antonio Gates: 97, Jason Witten: 95, Heath Miller: 47).
• Reached 500 receiving yards in 2014 to mark his eighth straight 500-plus yard campaign. He is one of two players in team history to have eight consecutive seasons with 500 receiving yards (Hines Ward, 12, 1999-2010).
• Reached 500 receiving yards in 2014 to mark his eighth straight 500-plus yard campaign – the third-longest active streak among tight ends (entering 2014 Antonio Gates: 10 and Jason Witten: 10).
RB Le’VEON BELL
• Extended his consecutive regular-season games started streak to 24 -the fifth-longest active consecutive games started streak among NFL running backs.
• Set a career-high with 222 yards from scrimmage (204 rushing and 18 receiving), becoming the first Steeler with 200-plus yards from scrimmage in a game since 2006 (Willie Parker, Dec. 7 vs. Cleveland, 223).
• Became the fourth player in team history (fourth occasion) to record 200 rushing yards in a single game and his 202 were the fourth-most.
• Set a career-high for rushing yards in the first half of a games with 72.
• Recorded 51 rushing yards in the first quarter, marking the second time in his NFL career eclipsing 50 in the opening period of a game (52, Dec.22, 2013 at Green Bay).
• Produced the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his NFL career and  third of the 2014 season.
• With 204 rushing yards, set a new single-season career-high of 951, surpassing his 2013 rookie total of 860.
• Scored a touchdown on a five-yard run, his second rushing touchdown of the season and 10th of his NFL career.
• Has now rushed for 1,811 yards in the first two seasons of his NFL career – the most by a Steelers running back in their first two years in the NFL with the team.
• Increased his franchise record for the most yards from scrimmage by a Steeler in their first two seasons in the NFL to 2,694.
• Has recorded 1,435 yards from scrimmage in the first 11 games of the season– the second-most by a Steeler through the first 11 games of a season.
• Became the first Steeler to record 100 yards from scrimmage in nine games of a season since 2007 (Willie Parker, 10 games).
• Extended his franchise record for the most receptions by a running back in a single-season to 57
CB WILLIAM GAY

 

• Became the ninth in Steelers history to record at least three INT-TD returns and matched the team’s single-season mark of 2 (seven times).
• Matched a single-season career high with two intercetpions (2011, 2012 and 2014).
DE BRETT KEISEL
• Tallied two pass break-ups, increasing his career to 36 to rank second among active NFL defensive ends in the category (Jared Allen: 52, BrettKeisel: 36, J.J. Watt: 34).
DE CAM HEYWARD
• Extended his consecutive regular-season games played streak to 59 -tying as the fifth-longest active consecutive games played streak among NFL defensive ends.
NT DANIEL McCULLERS
• Became the first Steelers rookie nose tackle and defensive lineman to start a game since the 2001 season (Casey Hampton, Jan. 6, 2012 vs. Cleveland).
LB LAWRENCE TIMMONS
• Extended his streak of consecutive regular-season games started to 64 – the longest active streak among current Steelers.
K SHAUN SUISHAM
• Has now made 200 field goals in his NFL career and is tied for 10th among active kickers (Mason Crosby).
• His 53-yard field goal is tied for the fourth-longest succesful kick in team history

    After what the Ravens did to the Saints on Monday night by running the ball down the Saints throats , you would think LeVeon Bell would be drooling all over himself . With that being said , the Saints are not a good football team this year . That does not bode well for the Steelers who love to play down to the lesser teams . Bottom line , this should be a Steeler win but dont be surprised if Brees comes in and lights up the Steelers defense .
