Chris Johnson has made an impact in the NFL. From long runs to catching touchdown passes, Johnson has proven he can carry the load. This Sunday we could see the old Johnson back or the struggling one against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
What he does well:
There is no question Johnson’s greatest asset is his speed. His ability to make plays in the open field is above average. He has shown in the past that he can carry the football 20 to 25 times a game. With the New York Jets struggling, they could turn to Johnson more this Sunday. With Michael Vick as the quarterback it leaves open the possibly of an option offense. The Steelers’ defensive front seven has provided consistent pass rush in 2014. Screen passes might potentially calm down the Steelers pass rush.
Negatives:
Even though Johnson has great speed, he does seem to have lost a step. If the Jets fall behind early, his carries could be limited. As of now, Johnson is number two on the depth chart behind Chris Ivory. With the Jets passing game struggling, it will make the running game predictable. Johnson, by no stretch of the imagination, is a physical running back and doesn’t match up well against physical defenses.
