What the players had to say about the win:
“We don’t want to be satisfied with the way we played,” said running back Le’Veon Bell. “It was good, but there are definitely things that we can do better.” This came from the mouth of a guy who, in his second season, became the first player in Steelers history to top 100 yards in total offense in each of his first seven games.
“It’s a step,” said outside linebacker Jason Worilds. “If we continue to take those steps we’ll be fine.”
“I’m not even going to talk about stacking wins,” free safety Mike Mitchell, who had a late strip that resulted in a fumble recovery by Troy Polamalu. “What we need to do is go 1-0 next week.”
Summary:
I gave the Steelers one of the best grades of the season, overall, this week. It wasn’t because there were zero mistakes. It was because the Steelers picked themselves up and got back on the horse, showing that the team isn’t in zombie mode – even if it is October. It’s a team that is finally discovering that they have talent on their roster. They just need to pull together.
As Ramon Foster said about Timmons’ up-chuck, “This isn’t his first time. I think he’s done it in like the Carolina game. If you come to our practice field, theirs throw-up spilled on the side of the fields from him. It’s something that he’d doing right now. I don’t know, maybe it’ll take us to the Super Bowl.”
