Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has had much success against the Cleveland Browns. Through injures and personnel changes, Roethlisberger has been successful against the Browns. This time around the quarterback quarterback he is up against is Brain Hoyer who has had success in the NFL, albeit limited.
Hoyer was having surprising success before tearing his ACL. The fact that he has recovered in time to start week one is truly remarkable considering the fact that in all of Hoyer three starts he did not lose.
At the time before Hoyer became a starter the Browns were struggling, he was the backup to Tom Brady in New England so it’s clear he knows a thing or two about the quarterback position.
Hoyer will be looking to develop more chemistry with wide receivers Miles Austin, Earl Bennett, and standout tight out tight end Jordan Cameron. Hoyer this Sunday however will be facing a Steelers defense that is more younger and athletic than it has been in quite some time.
Roethlisberger has been given more freedom to run the offense this When Roethlisberger was allowed to call more no huddle last season the Steelers finished the season 6-2.
Roethisberger holds a impressive 16-1 record against the Browns, his highest winning percentage against any other NFL team.
With Roethlisberger increased talent to work with win number 17 will be expected. It will interesting to see how the running game effects how many passes Roethlisberger will need to throw.
If the running game is consistent Roethlisberger probably will not throw more than 25 passes as he aims to spread the ball around.
Great news for the Steelers offense as they strive to get back to smash mouth football.
