Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Kicker Shaun Suisham Safety Robert Golden, and Safety Troy Polamalu have been voted captains by the Steelers players. All are proven players in their area.
Roethisberger has been voted a,captain for the sixth time, Golden, Polamalu, Suisham have received the honor for the first time.
For Polamalu it’s a surprise when you consider how special of a players Polamalu is. Golden has been a great special teams players the past couple of seasons also being the most consistent and is he clearly worthy of this honor.
Suisham has been the most efficient kicker for the Steelers since Jeff Reed left town which lead to a recent contract extension.
Roethlisberger has been voted captain of the offense six times since he’s given the Steelers a great chance to win every game he has played.
With Ryan Clark gone and Brett Keisel resigning with team late Polamalu was the obvious choice for defensive captain.
After over ten years Polamalu still continues to play at a high level. Hopefully that leadership helps carry the team to Super Bowl win number seven.
