The Steelers today locked up center Maurkice Pouncey on a whopping five-year deal worth $44 million dollars.
The center was the teams first round pick in 2010, and had missed just three games up until last season, when he was lost for the year in the opener vs the Titans after he tore his ACL on the Steelers first offensive drive of the season.
The new deal makes Pouncey the highest-paid center in the league, ahead of Browns center Alex Mack, who inked a five-year deal worth $42 million.
The upcoming season would have been the final year of Pouncey’s rookie contract; he was scheduled to make just over $3.8 million.
