Ike Taylor has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2003 when has was drafted out of Louisiana Lafayette. Through many ups and downs Taylor has won multiple Super Bowls and played on some great Steelers defenses over the years. In the 2014-2015 season, along with some old and new teammates, Taylor is striving to improve.
With 620 tackles and 14 interceptions, Taylor has made his presence felt over the past 12 seasons. With his physical playing style and rangy body, Taylor has been able to cover many Pro Bowl receivers over the years. Players like Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Johnson, A.J. Green and Calvin Johnson just to name a few. However, Taylor was not fully happy with his 2013 performance.
“It was a so-so year” Taylor said.
Taylor understands his play must improve. Taylor also understands that team chemistry must continue to improve in every way it can. At the beginning of OTAs Taylor congratulated new teammates for being part of the Steelers organization. His style of handshakes is also well known among his teammates. Teammates have said that Taylor’s personality is a “breath of fresh air”
When asked if the 2014 season would be his last, Taylor responded by saying, “I don’t know ; whenever the ball drops.” Taylor may be near the end of his career but he is still very much needed in the Steelers organization.
