Steelers fans that want a shot to see the team up close and personal in training camp that can’t get to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, may get their wish another way.
There’s a story today that the Steelers are one of eight teams that are eligible for HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” the show that takes fans behind the scenes and shows them storylines from training camp.
I can’t for one second think that Mike Tomlin or even the Rooney’s would be open to this idea, but the fans would for sure love it as it would be a shot to see the team and get a chance at seeing things they have never seen before.
The show appears to have been dominated by the AFC, as the last four seasons have shown AFC clubs – the Bengals in 2009, Jets in 2010, Miami in 2012 (there was no show in 2011) and Cincinnati again in 2013.
The Steelers training camp generally is a monster draw for fans and Latrobe turns into Steeler Nation during the summer month of August when fans come from everywhere to see the team.
While it would be interesting to see and fans would love it and it would be a great draw for HBO – I can’t see it happening.
