Cowher To Be Part Of CBS Crew Calling Steelers-Jets Game October 13th

Bill Cowher

The Steelers next game will have a very familiar face as the third man in the booth calling their game against the Jets at the Medowlands.

Former head coach Bill Cowher will have a say in the Steelers-Jets game on October 13th, as CBS tries a new experiment with their “NFL Today” crew.

Cowher will join the number one CBS team – Jim Nantz and Phil Simms – as he will watch the team he coached from 1992 to 2006 try to win their first game of the 2013 season.

This will be the first time in six seven seasons since leaving the Steelers for the broadcast booth that the Cowher will have a say in a game fought by his former squad.

“We wanted to try something new and showcase the insights and perspective of our studio analysts during a game broadcast,” CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said in a statement.

“Looking at the slate of regional games during Week 6, with three involving the former teams of our studio analysts, we thought it was the perfect time to have some fun and add Coach, Boomer and Shannon to our game coverage.”

Boomer Esiason will be the third man for the Bengals-Bills game alongside Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots, and Shannon Sharpe will be part of the crew for the Jaguars-Broncos game.

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

Jim Nantz and Phil Simms make up the worst broadcast booth I’ve ever heard, they are total slugs. Nantz tries to sound intelligent but comes across as a moron, and I’m not quite sure what language Simms speaks, but someone needs to explain to “eem” that the male personal pronoun is spelled and pronounced “him.”

That would be just what the steelers need. We have to remember though that Cowher was successful in a different era of the NFL. I still think a great football mind like Cowher can transcend eras. Even as a coach, I trust him and Colbert to get the job done
