Yesterday RB Le’Veon Bell promised he would be back and make all those that were shouting out negative things about him on Twitter see just how good of a back he will be in the NFL.
He will have to wait awhile to fulfill that promise.
Bell, who left Monday’s loss to the Redskins after four plays, will miss at least this week’s preseason game with a mid-foot sprain. He had a MRI on the foot yesterday, and the Steelers are keeping pretty quiet about the overall results.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said today that Bell will get a second opinion on the injury.
The good news is reports say the foot isn’t as bad as the one that will keep TE Matt Spaeth out anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks. Bell isn’t the only Steelers back with an injury, as Isaac Redman suffered a stinger last Thursday, and LaRod Stephens-Howling has a knee injury.
Baron Batch also is suffering from a stinger as well.
The issues with the backs opened the door for Jonathan Dwyer this past week, and he led the team in rushing and basically put himself on the roster with almost five yards a carry in the loss to the Skins.
