Both co-starters for Monday nights game vs the Redskins had bumps and bruises on Thursday, but both were dressed and on the field Friday in Latrobe.
Le’Veon Bell and Isaac Redmen took part in early practice, but were held out of contact drills.
Bell hurt his already bruised knee when he got hit late on Thursday in a drill that wasn’t supposed to have contact.
Redmen suffered a stinger, but both injuries are expected to be minor.
QB Ben Roethlisberger sat on the sidelines as well Friday, as he had ice wrapped.
Roethlisberger took part in the entire practice on Thursday.

Its preseason folks . If these guys have bumps and bruises , then sit them . These games are a joke and they always have been . All theyre good for is getting a star player hurt and bottom line , after the last few years the Steelers cannot afford that . We need these guys come week one against Tennessee and if it means sitting them now to keep them healthy , then its a no-brainer , you do it .

Dave I agree in theory but the Steelers developed a illness that makes them play down to lesser teams and an aversion to sitting extra time.. They seem to have PLAYER COACH syndrome.. there coach loves them so much they take advantage.. These games mean shit but sitting out hurts the continuity of practice but most of all it spreads like an infection.. The way to view it is Ray Lewis (as much as we hated the guy) NEVER MISSED PRACTICE SO OTHER GUYS COULDNT MISS!
