Steelers CB Cortez Allen Has Minor Knee Surgery

Allen

The Steelers will be without their current starting CB as Cortez Allen, named the starter opposite Ike Taylor before camp starter, will miss a couple of weeks after minor surgery on his right knee Friday.

“We wanted him to get the surgery done now so he can begin rehabilitating immediately,” coach Mike Tomlin said Friday. “This surgery was a minor procedure and will have no long-term effects on his return to the field.

“We look forward to his rehabilitation process and having him back on the field in a couple of weeks.”

The new Steelers CB hasn’t been on the field much due to the injury, and his spot has been taken for the most part by Willie Gay, who came over this offseason after a year with Arizona.

Allen was the Steelers fourth round pick in the 2011 NFL draft. He played in 15 games in 2012 and had two picks and three forced fumbles.
