Just one season ago, Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was one of the best kickers in the NFL from under 50 yards.
He was a near perfect last season under those categories, but moving forward needs to work on making 50-yard field goals, as those are the kicks that in the clutch wins games.
One reason I believe Suisham can have his great success is because of the home games the Steelers play. Suisham knows how to kick at Heinz Field when most kickers continue to have nightmare games at the home of the black and gold.
He knows how the wind is blowing at each end of the stadium so he can calculate how to kick it. He only missed two field goals at home last season.
That’s right up there at the top of the league. I believe Suisham will once again be near perfect at home because of his experience there.
Another reason he will have success is because he knows how to kick in clutch situations. Last year, he had quite a few game-winning field goals either at the end of the game or in OT.
He did it against Baltimore on the last play of the game, Philadelphia at home on the final play of the game, and Kansas City in OT.
If he can have that same success he had last year in key moments in late games, there is no doubt that the Steelers will win more games than they did last season.
