While Jerome Bettis will someday enter the Hall of Fame as a member of the Steelers, it doesn’t mean he has to always say good things about the team – more so when things are not going so well.
Bettis chatted recently about the AFC North on the Dave Dameshek Football Program, and said that the Steelers as a team and their run game, something that he knows quite a bit about from his time with the Black and Gold, is a huge question mark entering the season.
“The question mark in the division is the Steelers,” Bettis said.
“How will they perform? Will they be able to run the football? Will the defense be able to stay intact? They’ve got some questions that need to be answered, so right now if I had to step out of my body and give a prediction I’d say the edge goes to Cincinnati, then Baltimore, then Pittsburgh, then Cleveland.”
Bettis said that Cincinnati, a playoff team the last two seasons and one that knocked the Steelers out the playoffs with a week 16 win in Pittsburgh, still has to learn how to win.
“They still have to learn how to win. They don’t know how to win yet,” Bettis told Dameshek. “And I think that’s the one Achilles heel if you had to think of anything, that’s going to be the Achilles heel, they really don’t know how to win a big game.”
Hopefully for the Steelers sake, the Bengals go back to being the Bengals, and the Black and Gold gets back to the form of years past of being a powerhouse in the division.

You’re a homer!!! I love the Steelers but Bettis is spot on with his remarks! And he’s earned the right to voice his opinion even if it is making negative predictions about the black and gold. Remember everybody, objectivity, please!

There is nothing wrong with Versus sharing his opinion. Especially considering there is merit to his rationale. Now, let’s hope that his former team(mates) go out and prove him wrong.

Last year it was Heinz. This year it is the Bus kicking their old team in the butt. Maybe their is a lack of team loyalty and trust in that lockeroom ? !
