The Steelers may be 50/50 on if they will match the offer for wide out Emmanuel Sanders, but if it’s up to his quarterback the past few seasons, he wants the Steelers to match.
Ben Roethlisberger is clearly in the corner of wanting the Steelers to match the one-year offer that New England made to Sanders, this according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
La Canfora says that Roethlisberger has been trying to lobby head coach Mike Tomlin and members of the coaching staff to keep Sanders and to match the offer.
It’s not the first time that Big Ben has asked to keep someone around, as in the past he wanted to keep offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who eventually became the head coach in Arizona this past offseason.

I am really starting to worry about what the top brass are doing now. Money does alot of things to people. The steelers have to find ways to keep these guys, or big ben wont have anyone with a bit of pedigree left to throw the ball to. These guys want alot of cash. I know they work their butts off and are talented at what they do but at the end of it all there is only so much one can spend. It is conceivable that the steelers can keep being over the cap and not even make the playoffs. Ben,s right keep Sanders. I am sure he wants to stay.

We had trouble scoring points with the 2012-13 offense and we have been severely depleted with the current business transactions!! How are we going to score points with the current state of remaining offensive players?? We need to keep at least 1 quality receiver!!!

Or, we could cut Ben, get a 3rd round pick for Sanders, and use the extra money to rebuild the D and field an effective O-line for Gradkowski. Decisions, decisions.
No matter how you slice it, guys, we waited too long to replace our veterans. I’ve said it before: this will be a 2 year rebuilding effort at a minimum. Maybe longer, if our picks don’t live up to expectations. We can’t fill all our deficiencies in one year. Due to a dearth of talent, we will start players in 2013 that won’t be with the team in 2015. There is no easy fix.

Do not know about cutting B.Ben, if he conditions himself and gets the protection he needs he could be a steeler for another five years. As for rebuilding the team i agree it wont happen soon. They have cleared the decks so to speak and replacing the names that are gone will take a process of time. So if they even make the playoffs it will be an achievment itself. They have got to get the balance of age experience and youth. That aint easy to accomplish in the top tier of the NFL. They need what they more or less had in 05, and ,08 and one could say there you go.

I’m pretty sure the doc was being sarcastic about cutting Ben
