The Steelers have brought back one of their own, as Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says the team has inked linebacker Stevenson Sylvester.
As one would expect, it’s a one-year deal for Sylvester, a former fifth-rounder pick of the Steelers. With James Harrison gone and suddenly LB looking like an issue, Sylvester could get significant playing time as a backup ILB in 2013.
He’s also been a core player on special teams for the Steelers, but didn’t get the amount of playing time it looked like he would last season when he was solid during training camp.
We will see if the new deal for him gets him turned around enough to start to finally show enough potential for the Steelers to make it worth their cash to keep him longer than a year.
In 3 seasons with the Black and Gold, Sylvester has played just 75 snaps.
