Earlier this week, former Steelers safety Will Allen visited with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys, who have little cap space, are to sign Will Allen, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Allen started six games last season with the Steelers when safety Troy Polamalu was down with injuries. Allen filled in much better than Ryan Mundy who signed when free agency opened up with the Giants.
Leaving the Steelers with Robert Golden, Damon Cromartie-Smith, and Ross Ventrone to back up both Polamalu and free safety, Ryan Clark. With little experience and talent in depth at safety, questions start to ask if the Steelers will find a safety in free agency. Or will they draft Kenny Vaccaro, who’s pro day coach Mike Tomlin just attended on Tuesday.
