No word about how long Steeler top cornerback Ike Taylor will be out, but all indications are it could be a couple of weeks.
Reports say that Taylor is expected to miss three to six weeks after injuring his right ankle vs the Ravens. He was seen in a boot in the second half on the sidelines.
Taylor this season has a pick and 13 passes defensed in 12 games. He had a MRI Monday on the injured ankle.
For the Steelers, no Taylor means that Cortez Allen will have to step it up and fill the void. Versus the Ravens, Allen was hit for a long 30-yard pass interference penalty, and he also allowed the 28-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin.
Allen and the rest of the D did recover to have a good enough second half and third quarter to hold off the Ravens for the 23-20 win.

This is a huge blow to an already struggling team . Taylor is hands down the best cover corner on the team . Cortez Allen had better step it up fast , because the bullseye on his back just got alot bigger .

That means Curtis Brown and DeMarcus Van Dyke will be backing up K. Lewis and C. Allen. This could be a huge blow to the team, as Dave B. says above, or it could be the passing of the torch to a new generation of Steelers. K. Lewis has done well, and I’m betting C. Allen will improve with game experience. It’s the backups that worry me.
