The struggling Steelers D doesn’t appear to be getting safety Troy Polamalu back this week for a big AFC North game vs the Bengals, as CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports it’s “unlikely” he will play Sunday night.
Polamalu hurt his calf against the Eagles in Week 5, missed Week 6 and has only played in two games this season due to injuries.
The Steelers could get a boost with the return of LB LaMarr Woodley, who missed the Thursday night debacle in Tennessee which the Steelers lost 26-23.
Right now the Steelers are No. 18 in scoring defense, allowing 23.0 points per game.

What it boils down to is , youre looking at the tail end of Troy Polamalu’s career . Troys reckless abandon style that hes played with his entire career has finally caught up with him . Hes in his thirties now and his body is breaking down on him . It happens to all the great ones and unfortunately now its happening to Troy . The Steelers need to start planning for the future because Troys days are numbered .

Troy tried to go too soon before, and he reinjured the calf. Tomlin is going to be super-careful with him this time. Better to have him healthy late than half-strength now. When Troy is sound, he’ll be back. It just takes longer for all of us heal as we age.
