The Steelers are talking to a couple free agents today, as the team is chatting with former former Bengals LB Brandon Johnson and veteran NFL kicker Dave Rayner.
Johnson played all three linebacker spots with 10 starts and been a special teams captain in his four years with the Bengals. The Steelers need linebackers, and adding Johnson would both help the Steelers and hurt the Bengals at the same time.
Johnson joined the Bengals in 2008, playing every regular season and post season game since, the longest active streak. Along with generating over 80 tackles during his first season with the team, Johnson generated 3.5 quarterback sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and 14 passes defensed throughout his Bengals career.
As for Rayner, he would challenge current Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham. Rayner has played with eight teams in as many years where he has racked up 65 field goals on 90 attempts and has made 77 of 78 extra points.
Rayner was with the Buffalo Bills last season.
