The latest veteran Steeler that is going to be shown the door is guard Chris Kemoeatu, as reports say he will be released by the club to try and give them more room under the cap.
A 2005 sixth-round pick out of Utah, the 6-foot-3, 344-pound Kemoeatu spent three season as a reserve before becoming a full-time starter in 2008. Over the last four seasons, Kemoeatu has started 51 of 56 games.
The move of getting rid of Kemoeatu will save the Steelers $3.05 million in salary.
Already the team has gotten rid of two veteran players – wide receiver Hines Ward and defensive end Aaron Smith. Rumors are floating around that LB James Farrior is also going to be released.

This move is long overdue and will actually improve the team, as discussed in this forum for at least two years. Kemo has the physical gifts to be a great NFL lineman. Instead, he relies too much on his innate athleticism, playing inconsistently and committing far too many penalties, many of them mental errors. The line actually played better with the smaller Legursky at OG. That in itself says it all.

Anyone know exactly how far under the cap we are? I’m thinking around 10 mil or so.
