Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week, the team announced on Wednesday.
Brown had a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Steelers’ 35-7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The return was the Steelers’ first punt return for a touchdown since the 2006 season.
In addition to catching 50 passes for 774 yards in an expanded role on offense, Brown is averaging 12.2 yards on 27 punt returns, which is tied for fourth in the NFL.
Brown is the fourth Steelers player to earn “Player of the Week” honor and the first to do so on special teams. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has two weekly honors (Week 5, Week 8) this season, with running back Rashard Mendenhall earning the honor in Week 6.
