Steelers Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey has been fined $7,500 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Texans on Sunday.
Near the end of the first half, Pouncey hit Texans linebacker Connor Barwin after the whistle on a 14-yard run by Mewelde Moore, earning a 15-yard personal foul penalty.
Moore’s carry drove the Steelers to the Texans’ 6-yard line, but the yardage took the Steelers back outside the red zone. Three plays later, a 30-yard field goal attempt by Shaun Suisham was blocked and returned for a touchdown by the Texans. The touchdown was nullified by an illegal block above the waist penalty on Texans safety Danieal Manning.
For Pouncey, a 2010 first-round pick out of Florida, this is just the second accepted penalty of his young career. Pouncey was flagged for holding in Week 7 of his rookie season and a holding penalty against the Texans on Sunday was declined.
