Matt, I have many of the same picks! I just cant pick the Patriots to beat our Steelers again in the AFC title game! The 3rd time will be a charm for the Steelers, even if its in Foxboro!!

I think Vick is going to struggle enough early on that any thought of MVP will be washed away. Aaron Rodgers could be MVP and the coach of the year will be from Detroit, if they make the playoffs , that is!

I agree 100%. If Detroit makes the play off then their coach should be coach of the year and although tom brady owns the steelers, i can’t see us losing again.

Mr. Loede, I see you’ve joined the ranks of the valiant, too. I thought you’d catch more flack than this from not picking the Steelers to go all the way. It’s hard to quibble with your choices, although I’m surprised you think the Jets will be a #5 seed in the playoffs. Rex Ryan says they’ll bury the Patriots this year. Wouldn’t that be nice for Pittsburgh?
Of course, the key for the Steelers is the defense. If LeBeau can’t conjure up a pass rush and fix the speed issues in pass coverage, a 12-4 record will seem pie in the sky and playoff hopes will go a-glimmering. But if the Steelers somehow make it back to the AFC championship, they will have addressed a number of thorny problems successfully. In that event, they should win it all. It will be fun to watch!

I wanna make an observation form an X’s and O’s standpoint about last night’s game. I KNOW IT’S ONLY WEEK ONE BUT IN ANY EVENT: Peyton brings in Shaun Rogers and Abruyu Franklin to stop the run in an attempt to make teams one dimensional (kinda like what the Steelers do SUCCESSFULLY!)…What a joke the Saints’ rush defense was and count them out if those new acquisitions for run stoppage will continue to play like that. I mean we knew Rodgers from GB would pass the ball all over the field but their (GB’s) offensive line in its interior is not the greatest at run blocking and they made the Saints look silly in the run game. I’d be pissed if I were a Saints fan; not because Rodgers form GB threw the ball all over the field but because the main thing N.O. tried to do coming into the season (stop the run) was basically nullified by an average at best run blocking o-line! I know it’s early. As far as the picks, I can’t disagree (stomach bile in me troat!) but until Pittsburgh beats N.E. WITH Tom Brady (home or away it doesn’t matter), then that should be how it gets picked! With this fleet of WR’s (we have) someone will most likely always be open but BB may have to scan the field at times and that means this O-Line will have to pass protect! I don’t see that happening regularly and we may watch a lot of (wasted) talent (i.e., Wallace, Sanders, Brown, etc.) and plays left on the field this year that shoulda gone big! I believe we will be in some (not many but some—not many because we play the NFC West) shootouts this year where teams will spread us out and throw the ball like 70%-80% of the time which means we will have to match them. I guess it comes down to, in my humble opinion, pass protection and DB play (with commensurate QB pressure of course). If those things happen, 14-2; if not, anywhere form 10-6 to 12-4, possibly 13-3 but I doubt that last one if BB runs for his life (AGAIN!) and we end up having a porous secondary and DO NOT exceed the 50 sack mark!
