Dan Pompei of the National Football Post reports teams in need of a backup quarterback might want to dial the 412 area code. The Steelers have Byron Leftwich, Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon all lined up behind Ben Roethlisberger.
They Steelers like all three, but they can’t keep them all. Any of the backups might be moved in a deal, because the Steelers would rather get something in return than have to cut one.

keep dixon! trade leftwich and batch. before blowing out his knee dixon looked like a good fit for the backup job.

We Have to keep Charlie!!!!! He proved himself last year that if needed, he could do the job, plus he is a great coach to the others. Dixon is too ‘ify’ and Leftwich ought to be the one gone.

agreed. trade leftwich if you can. but no one is going to give us anything for him… everyone knows we have to cut anyway… teams will just wait it out.

the only one with trade value is dixon. if we cant trade dixon, cut leftwich.

I don’t know, man….Lefty is the only one of the three that makes sense to keep. He’s big and physical; at least more so than Dixon and the sentient Batch. Behind this o-line, you need someone durable. The other two are not. Also, Leftwhich has the strongest arm of the other two. Some can argue that he’s better at reading defenses than Batch (and most definitely Dixon). Dixon has the most trade value because of his youth. mobility and upside. But to suggest that we could snatch away Taylor Mays from San Fran with Dixon/Batch or Leftwich AND a mere sixth round pick is preposterous!!!!
