Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler is one guy who was a big fan of the Steelers 2nd round pick of Florida offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert.
“He`s a high energy player. He`s athletic. He plays the game physical the way he like here,” Kugler said. “An added bonus is he and Maurkice are best buds.”
And the two could end up on the line together in the near future. The Steelers loved what they saw from Pouncey in 2010, and while Gilbert isn’t a first rounder like Pouncey, they are hoping he plays like one and can end up as successful as Pouncey.
Right now the team has not decided on where Gilbert is going to play on the line. With two players (Max Starks and Willie Colon) coming off injury, and Colon being a free agent, Gilbert may play and play soon.
“At some point his best position will come out,” Kugler said of Gilbert. “He has pulling skills so we could envision him at the guard spot as well, We`re trying to get the best five and the best two game day guys behind that. He`ll be in the right spot when it comes time to go. ”
