If you believe what NFL.com has to say, those that want Mike Pouncey to be a Steeler may have their wishes granted. The site states the following when it comes to the Steelers taking the brother of their Pro Bowl center.
The Steelers will exhaust all realistic possible scenarios to trade up for Florida’s Mike Pouncey, according to a league source. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has given an edict to his personnel department to explore all realistic trade options for Pouncey, a guard/center, to be prepared to acquire him should he “start to slip,” according to the source.
The Steelers drafted Pouncey’s brother Maurkice, his teammate at Florida, in 2010 and he responded with an All-Pro caliber season. Tomlin is enthralled by the idea of teaming the brothers on his offensive line and the Steelers know Pouncey will be gone long before they pick at selection 31. The team realizes it would take significant draft-pick compensation to make such a leap, and also knows teams picking in the teens like San Diego (18) and the Giants (19) have their eye on interior offensive linemen.
At one point, it was thought that Mike wouldn’t last past the Cowboys, but now they seem to be in the corner of taking J.J. Watt or possibly Tyson Smith from USC. The Giants are another team that have a lot of interest for Pouncey, which is a team that the Steelers would have to deal with to move up to get Maurkice’s little bro.
